What ?

In 2012, the European Commission and the European Investment Bank (EIB) launched the pilot phase of the ‘Europe 2020 Project Bond Initiative’ – the so-called project bonds – in order to steer private sector investments in large infrastructure projects. With the end of the pilot phase approaching and the first projects financed through this instrument, this high-level roundtable will analyse the first lessons to be learnt from the use of project bonds. We believe the time has come for civil society and decision-makers to discuss the outcomes of this pilot phase. MEPs, representatives of the European Commission and financial institutions, together with civil society organisations will draw lessons from the last two years and discuss future perspectives for the project bonds in the context of the future EU Investment Package.
